Surya Kriya

What is Surya Kriya

Surya Kriya is a potent yogic practice of tremendous antiquity, designed as a holistic process for health, wellness, and complete inner well-being. “Surya” means “sun,” and “kriya” means “inner energy process.” Surya Kriya activates the solar plexus to raise the samat prana, or solar heat, in the system. It also balances a person’s left and right energy channels, leading to stability of the body and stillness of the mind. This strong foundation becomes the basis to explore higher dimensions of life.

Programme Structure

Before doing Surya Kriya, it is important that we prepare the body properly. We will learn a series of steps for this purpose.

These preparation steps help loose up the limbs and activate the very base of our spine. They also balance our energy channels and bring up the metabolic level.

Daily practise of these preparation steps can improve our flexibility and bring us inner balance.

Surya Kriya is comprised of 21 steps. It also involves a particular way of breathing. You can do one or multiple cycles of Surya Kriya.

Initially, it might take you 12 – 15 minutes to complete one cycle. Gradually, as you do the practice, your body becomes more stable and your breath becomes much deeper. You will be able to achieve approximate 21 minutes per cycle.

The entire practice brings a certain profound experience of meditativeness and a certain quietness of the mind. You can clearly notice this, even just after a few days practising.
